The question emerged in FGD under title Accountability in Humanitarian Fund Management held in Muhammadiyah building Jakarta. Actually, the issues of accountability occur since long time ago, but the concern in that issues whether from government, NGO and Beneficiaries in Indonesia has been deficient.
There are many distinction among the bodies that works in Humanitarian in practicing the standard of accountability. Moreover, there was found the variety of standard in accountability up the world that adopted by NGOs in Indonesia Hamid Abidin, Director of PIRAC said, "based on the fact, there has been no standardization of which could be agreed together in accountability. Therefore, often happens that an institution claims to work on humanity declared itself as an institution which is accountable to the indicators of an audit of public consultants".
According to him, such indicators can not represent the whole principle of accountability in humanitarian work, because often found the reality on the ground that of NGOs work does not comply with proper standards of humanity. So where is the real fact?” he said.
Meanwhile, Victor Rembeth (HFI Board) raised the question of accountability in the view of the humanitarian agencies who judged requires the fundamental of a sense of responsibility for humanity as the beneficiaries. So with the campaign on the importance of the principle of accountability is expected to further reduce the effort of exploitation and dehumanization of the beneficiaries.
The FGD held as the preliminary step to start the research in accountability for up coming time. 28 peoples from NGOs come to this FGD, they give the input and criticism and perspectives on the research.
