President of Indonesia, H.E. Joko Widodo, with Mrs. Irina Widodo and numbers of high officials visited Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance (IHA)'s Jamtoli Camp, Sub-District Ukhiya, District Cox's Bazaar, Bangladesh on 28th of January 2018. Accompanied by Chairman of IHA (as also one of the Executive Board members of HFI), Mr. M. Ali Yusuf, the President visited the field camp coordinated by Dr. Corona Rintawan and also talked with some of the refugees. Having operated in Bangladesh since 18th of September 2017 and supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Humanitarian Forum Indonesia, IHA is accommodating around 50.500 people in the camp and running 4 main programs: 1) Health, 2) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, 3) Relief, 4) Shelter and Public Facilities. The President conveyed his appreciation of what Indonesian citizens, NGOs and goverment agencies have been doing so far. President hopes that this efforts will continue to give values and benefits.

Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance (IHA) team has been operating in Bangladesh since 18th of September 2017 to conduct needs assessment and distribute humanitarian aid for the initial step. Until now, IHA is supported by 12 humanitarian organizations (Muhammadiyah, PKPU Human Initiative, Nahdlatul Ulama, Dompet Dhuafa, Rumah Zakat, Dompet Peduli Ummat Daarut Tauhiid, LAZIS Wahdah, Lembaga Manajemen Infaq, Forum Zakat, Pusat Zakat Umat, Badan Amil Zakat Nasional and Al Irsyad) and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Humanitarian Forum Indonesia and reach commitment on funding around USD $1.2 million (IDR 14.29 billion) to be distributed to Rohingya people, and this amount will keep increasing. It has already been distributed gradually and continuously. IHA is accommodating around 50.500 people in Jamtoli Camp and running 4 main programs:

  1. Health
  • Medical assistance (deployment of doctors and nurses once two weeks)
  • Provision of medical drugs
  • Establishment of emergency clinic (3 temporary units)
  • Provision and operation of mobile clinic (1 unit)
  1. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
  • Provision of clean water (making ready-to-drink water purifier, provision of Water Hand Pump, distribution of packaged drinking water)
  • Provision of latrine (portable toilet)
  • Provision of hygiene kit
  1. Relief
  • Provision of food items
  • Provision of blankets
  1. Shelter and Public Facilities
  • Provision of temporary shelter
  • Build Islamic school
  • Build worship facilities (including distributing prayer equipment and Al Qur’an)

All IHA’s programs are implemented after permitted by related stakeholders (Government & Military) with assistance from partnership with local partner existing in Bangladesh.

IHA’s medical assistance is appreciated by the military of Bangladesh in the camp because IHA’s assistance is very well-arranged and complete particularly in data recording of patients, and longer assistance program duration, compared to other parties.

IHA will continue to implement its programs integratively and focused in only 1 camp, to reach more benefits and more measureable impacts.
